This week, the Playstation 4 console was just announced and people want to know what games are going to be on it. Well, here is Part 1 of a list with some of the major developers who are working with the console. In this, I take a look at what they previously made, and what I personally think is going to be on the PS4 based on their track of work. These are only theories and guesses based on my research.
Lets start in Japan:
- ACQUIRE Corp.
Made: Way of the Samurai (WotS), Tenchu, Shinobido.
My Theory: Another one of these games on the PS4, with WotS and Shinobido having releases back in 2011, Tenchu could be their next title for the PS4.
- ARC SYSTEM WORKS CO.,LTD.
Made BlazBlue, GuiltyGear, and Persona 4 Arena.
My Theory: Since they stick with a fighting genre I’d guess any one of those first two on the PS4, or even taking a long shot and saying a BlazBlue x GuiltyGear cross over.

- Capcom
Made: Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Mega Man, Resident Evil, ect.
My Theory: This is a huge spread of games spanning nearly 30 years. My best bet is one of the aforementioned ones to be a sequel on the PS4, but there’s always hope for Okami 2.
- CyberConnect2 Co.,Ltd.
Made: .hack//G.U, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja.
My Theory: .hack has been one of those cult classics I hear about but have never seen. My guess is another Naruto on the PS4 but I wouldn’t be surprised if .hack gets another game.
- FromSoftware, Inc.
Made: Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Armored Core.
My Theory: With the teaser of a Dark Souls II out from the last VGA’s, it would be just to say that Dark Souls II is their game for the PS4, although a long tradition of Armored Core games could be a secondary idea.
- GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE INC.
Made: No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw.
My Theory: It’s Suda51, the man is crazy when it comes to video games and always thinks of some out of the box ridiculous plots, but they all focus on violence, zombies or demons, so expect something like that. Although the company was acquired by the next company on this list.
- GungHo Online Entertainment, Inc.
Made: Ragnarok Online and others in the series.
My Theory: Ragnarok is their only major title released, with the acquirement of Grasshopper I would guess that Suda will use the online medium in some major way with his next idea, maybe an MMO for No More Heroes.

- ATLUS
Made: Persona Series, Shin Megami Tensei, Catherine.
My Theory: Atlus tends to make some great JRPG’s so I’d expect more from them along those lines. No I will not acknowledge Dokapon Kingdom at all in this as a factor, the game is like Mario Party meets Monopoly, and should never ever be done again.
- Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd
Made: Castlevania, Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Pro Evolution Soccer.
My Theory: Konami is one of those companies that can boggle minds. Castlevania has some hit and miss titles, and Silent Hill, from my knowledge, is the same. Metal Gear Solid is touched by the god that is Kojima so there’s that, and Pro Evolution Soccer is the only thing not FIFA that’s good from what I’ve been told. Any number of these titles could come to the PS4 or even some lesser titles or a brand new IP, Konami is funny that way.
- Level-5
Made: Professor Layton, Ni No Kuni, White Knight Chronicles.
My Theory: Level-5 is a brilliant company that make excellent stories, but their track record really only has these three games as their majors. I could see another Professor Layton and White Knight, but Ni No Kuni is still too fresh to go for a sequel or even warrant one.
- NAMCO BANDAI Studios Inc.
Made: Ace Combat Series, Soul Calibur, Tales series, Tekken,Pac-Man.
My Theory: MAKE ANOTHER GOOD ACE COMBAT, AKA NOT ASSAULT HORIZON. Other then that, another Soul Calibur or Tekken may come out and some more tales games.
- NIHON FALCOM CORPORATION
Made: Dragon Slayer, The Legend of Heroes, Y series.
My Theory: Doing a little more work on this because a friend informed me of them, apparently they were one of the first to work on JRPGs back in the 80s and are one of the oldest developer studios around. While personally I’ve never heard of them, looking at their line of games in the past and from what they’ve got, if they continue along the same line as the games they’ve made before, then damn, does the PS4 have a good set of JRPG’s to possibly come out.
- Platinum Games Inc.
Made: Viewtful Joe, Okami, God Hand, Vanquish, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising.
My Theory: Just to make it clear, they made Okami as a former studio under Capcom, then split off. But anyway, Platinum is riding the wave of Revengence coverage and praise, so I expect good things out of them. They’re the type to make crazy action games with insane plots, but since it’s been said Bayonetta 2 is WiiU exclusive, that leaves another Vanquish or Okami, or even a new IP from these guys

- SEGA Corporation
Made: Sonic, Phantasy Star, Yakuza.
My Theory: It’s SEGA, they do things right, they do things wrong. Almost the EA of Japan. I can’t really predict much since their history spans so long with tons of titles to pick and choose from. They can remake an old game from back in the 80s or make a brand new IP out of no where.
- SQUARE ENIX Co., Ltd.
Made: Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Crysis Core.
My Theory: Final Fantasty XXIVCM (924), or something along those lines. Also, I would be in trouble if I didn’t say Kingdom Hearts.
- TECMO KOEI GAMES Co.,Ltd.
Made: Dead or Alive, Dynasty Warriors, Fatal Frame, Ninja Gaiden.
My Theory: Dynasty Warriors 7 is looking epic, so there’s a positive. Ninja Gaiden just got another game so they could do that. They have some other great games in their line up so expect something good in the near future.
And that’s all the Japanese developers. There were some I had to leave out because I couldn’t find enough research. In our next part we’ll take a look at the North American Developers.
