Hammerpoint Loses “The War Z” Trademark

It looks like these guys just can’t win, and I am not surprised at that. Hammerpoint Interactive, the creators of The WarZ, have just lost the rights to the name “The WarZ” itself, since it is so shockingly close to that of another zombie series – not to DayZ, but to the popular book, World War Z.

This will likely result in the name of the game being changed to something else. Paramount Pictures clearly doesn’t want the game to be confused with the World War Z books and movie. Personally, I think this just gives Hammerpoint an excuse to change the name of their game. They have had so much bad press recently, they may actually be glad this is happening to them: a chance to leave the older name behind.

I have been gamer since I first laid eyes on the NES and Sega Genesis. I consider myself a very passionate gamer with a life of experience playing everything from RTS to FPS. I play mainly PC games, but am a fan of playing consoles for the exclusives. Typically the Xbox 360. ~Twitter~

I’m really dissappointed with this whole debaucle. I love the idea of a zombie survival MMO but the fast’n'loose way the company’s flung out promises then not delivered, the faultless attitude and the poor quality (currently) of the game just crushed my hopes. They’re so cavalier about it that they’re really alienating people
