Agni’s Philosophy: Realtime Final Fantasy Tech Demo

On Tuesday evening at E3, Square Enix unveiled their next-gen game engine called Luminous Studio. Not much to say, but the video should speak for itself.

As you can see from the video, it far surpasses Square Enix’s previous engine, ’Crystal Tools’, that was used for Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. Although the engine is still in development and Hashimoto couldn’t specify when Luminous-powered games would hit the market, he smiled and said, “It won’t be that far from now.” Square Enix has already announced that Final Fantasy Versus XIII was switched from the Crystal Tools engine to the Luminous Engine, so that might be the first game to use it.
