Details regarding the multiplayer section of the upcoming Halo 4 have been leaked in the May issue of Game Informer magazine. Details include:
- A new currency system called Spartan Points that will allow the player to upgrade armor, weapons, abilities and more.
- Spec Ops from Modern Warfare, but with a story line. Spartan Ops will span several months, and be on a similar scale to the single player campaign.
- Sprint is now here, and everybody will have it as a standard armor ability in addition to other armor abilities.
- Forerunner Vision. For those of you who have played Blacklight Retribution, think of this as a X-ray vision-style camper eliminator.
- The hologram, jetpack, and active camo armor abilities will all make a comeback.
- Elites have been kicked for a reason yet to be revealed.
- Regicide, a new variation of free-for-all, ”sets the leading scorer as the king. Every opponent that the king kills raises his bounty; other players have to kill the king to claim the reward.”
- Distraction and revenge medals will give bro hugs to players who simply keep an enemy distracted while friends blast him in the back, and to those who hunt down and butcher their killer.
- The ability to time power weapon spawns will be near-impossible with the new “no more weapon camping” rule which, ”gives the matches other focal points, and it also helps alleviate the advantage longtime players always used to have over newer recruits; the best weapons are not always going to be found at the same spawn locations.”
- No more spawn delay. As soon as you die, all you need to do is tap the X button and you’re back in the game.
- You will always be able to join games in progress, something 343 implemented to eliminate the quitting problem.
