Brian Fargo, the inXile founder and developer of Wasteland 2 has come to an agreement with Obsidian’s chief creative officer Chris Avellone that Obsidian will assist Fargo’s team on Wasteland 2. Under one condition, that they reach $2.1 Million on their kickstarter funding.
Chris Avellone was the brains behind Fallout 1&2, Fallout New Vegas and Baldurs Gate. “Wasteland is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and when Brian asked if I wanted to work on the sequel, I jumped at the chance. Getting the chance to work on the spiritual successor to the Fallout franchise is a honor,” said Avellone.
Brian Fargo says that most of the programming will remain at inXile, Obsidian will assist with tools they have created to get assets into games faster. “The faster we can implement and iterate on content, the deeper the game and the more varied choices the gamers can make.”
As I said in my original post about Wasteland 2 being announced, I am excited and would love to get a copy. Now that obsidian wants to join on board just makes the thought seems amazing. With 17 days left and over 1.7 million raised, I hope inXile will hit that mark. What these two great companies make will be something to remember, that’s a fact.
